We welcome Paediatric Specialist Dietitian Jeny Simpson
MSc, Registered Dietitian, BDA Membership Number 11083, HCPC registration number DT26025
Jenifer studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Nottingham from 2006-2010 where she gained MSc Nutrition. Since leaving university Jenifer has continued to study and is due to compete her MSc in Advanced Dietetic Practice this autumn, following postgraduate modules in Children and Young Person’s Diabetes, Paediatrics, Professional Practice, Teaching Skills and Renal Nutrition.
Jenifer has developed particular skills in managing complex medical conditions such as diabetes, renal failure and multiple allergies, motivational interviewing and health coaching and working with challenging families during her time as a paediatric dietitian.
“I most enjoy working with families and implementing practical solutions to dietary problems. It is all very well discussing how to do something but sometimes the best way to help someone to make changes is to teach them how to do things for themselves.”
Jenifer’s career highlights so far include:
Chair of Yorkshire Diabetes Dietitian’s Group - establishing a regular working group of Paediatric Diabetes Dietitians and funding for these meetings.
Lead educator for Paediatric Diabetes at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals - which included developing a structured education programme for Children and Young People with Diabetes from 0-19 years old and their families.
Helping to produce and featuring in a Renal Dialysis Patient Education video for United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust.
Writing and producing a series of educational materials including videos, audio and written materials called “How to wean your child”.
